Chony's Art

Chony is a local Sunshine Coast artist who uses her time in nature to inform her intuitive, multimedia, mark making works of art.

Her practice often involves large pieces of cotton paper on top of which she pours pigmented inks, trusting how they fall, merge together and dry. Chony observes the dried ink marks to 'find' elements of nature such as trees, flowers, rocks etc and then uses charcoal, acrylic paint and paint pens to bring the art works to 'life'.

Just like walking through the forest, these large art works are suppose to transport the viewer into a forest scape, to feel the expanse of these natural areas and the beauty of the intricate flowers and life forms that we often walk past.
